Sandfield Closure

Sandfield will be closed from 2nd July 2021

Further to our previous communication on the proposal to close our branch surgery Sandfield Medical Centre 81 Liverpool Rd St Helens, we can now confirm that our application to NHS St Helens Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) was approved. Sandfield will therefore close on 2nd July 2021.

The Doctors will still be able to see all patients who are currently registered with Sandfield Medical Centre at the main site, Windermere Medical Centre. We are committed to giving our patients the best care possible, which we will be able to do best from Windermere Medical Centre.

Telephone lines

The process to make an appointment by telephone, at the Windermere surgery once Sandfield is closed, will remain the same. Our phones already divert to Windermere when Sandfield is closed and patients should not notice any difference.

All our other services remain unaffected and will continue to be provided from our Windermere branch. Please find Windmere’s address below:

Prescriptions

Some of you felt that you wanted to remain registered with us but would struggle to get your prescriptions. We have the following suggestions:

  • Attend one of our “how to order my prescription from my phone” drop in sessions which will be held at:

Sandfield Medical Centre on Tuesday 22nd June 2021 between 16:00 and 18:00

Sandfield Medical Centre on Monday 28th June between 10:00 and 12:00

Not only will you be able to order your medication but you will be able to use this to look at your results and make appointments too. You will also be asked for your “nominated pharmacy” and we will send the prescription electronically to them.

  • Speak to your pharmacy who will order your medication for you and also arrange to have it delivered to your home should you wish. We would only recommend this if you do not have a smartphone as ordering your own medication leads to less waste of medicines.
